The stated goals for the series was to:

• Create an easily constructible 1" scale 8-sweep carousel. It can be motorized or manually operated.

• The skills and machinery required for the project were basic to the woodworking hobbies, a scroll saw and small drill press.

• The builder is encouraged to follow their heart in personalizing the colors, theme, and complexity of the project.

The new manual has each of the series articles with the following additions.

• Hand cranked mechanism to permit manual operation

• Chariot designs for the ECP including a full-size template for the Swan chariot.

• The Lovers' Tub is included to add interest to the carousel.

• The manual includes drawings for making a carousel of the same dimensions but having 10 sweeps, thus increasing the potential positions for carouse figures.

• An extensive list of books providing carousel figure carving instructions is provided.
